What is Social Security Disability

Social Security Disability (SSD) is aid available to people who suffer from long lasting disabling medical conditions. There are two different ways to receive aid. The first is Social Security Disability Insurance or SSDI which is available to those who have worked five of the past ten years and paid taxes to the Social Security system through their job. The second is Supplemental Security Income or SSI which is for people who meet the low-income requirement.

Who Qualifies for Social Security Disability

Individuals can find if they qualify for Social Security Disability by meeting the criteria of one of the two routes. The first route is proving through supporting evidence that they cannot perform substantial gainful activity. The second route is proving the applicant meets a severe medical condition outlined by the SSA. This, however, is a more uncommon route because of the strict requirements the SSA gives.

Some of the medical conditions given by the SSA are musculoskeletal conditions, neurological conditions, immune system disorders, cardiovascular conditions, and malignant neoplastic disorders. This is not the full list, but it can be found here.

If you have any questions on which route to take or if you qualify, reach out to Hoglund Law to set up a free case evaluation.

Why Are People Denied Social Security Disability

There are many ways people get denied. Denials can happen from not having all the required paperwork in your file, consistent drug and alcohol use, participating in fraud, a refusal to cooperate, or a condition lasting less than 12 months. Understanding how the SSA will evaluate your file can be mindboggling, but SSD attorneys can let you know ahead of time. Call Hoglund Law for a free case evaluation.

Have You Been Denied SSDI / SSI?

The Social Security Administration follows strict guidelines to ensure they’re giving aid to the people who need it most. However, the SSA gives applicants a second chance. Applicants have the option to request an appeal if they feel as though their file wasn’t up to par but could be.

SSD attorneys can help you strengthen your case while you wait for the appeal. Adding relevant information can only help your case at this point. If you get a hearing, an attorney is vital. They have been trained to provide legal arguments, cross-examine witnesses, and disprove false assumptions. They can show the judge, through a legal eye, why you deserve these benefits. Furthermore, you are more likely to win your case with an attorney guiding you through the process.

To schedule a free case evaluation, call Hoglund Law. We can give you the proper representation your case requires.
